June 2025: Record heat and sunshine exceed all expectations!
What's going on in June 2025? Last month took the heat to a whole new level and was the fifth warmest June on record. In contrast, northwest Germany experienced a wet June compared to the climate average. In addition, June 2025 was the month with the fewest lightning strikes since 2009, with only around 211,642 lightning discharges located. Bavaria was the center of thunderstorms, with almost 65,000 lightning incidents.
