Wukensee, Biesenthal, Deutschland - On July 11th and 12th, 2025, the Wukensee festival in Biesenthal will open its doors again and all visitors: inspire with a colorful program inside. The festival in the heart of nature is a real crowd puller and promises action -packed events for young and old. The Student Cup starts, in which the 5th and 6th classes of the primary schools in Biesenthal, Grüntal, Marienwerder and Naturschule Biesenthal compete against each other in dragon boats, decorated with majestic kite heads and tails.
The event will be ceremoniously opened by Mayor Carsten Bruch and headmistress Ms. Grasse at 8:00 a.m. It really starts at 8:10 a.m.: Each class has the opportunity to paddle two preliminary runs on a distance of 200 meters. Under the watchful eyes of drummers and controls, the teams will do their best to achieve the goal as soon as possible. The ceremonial award ceremony takes place at 12:30 p.m., with the winners being awarded cups and documents. The fun is not neglected either: For all children, there is refreshing drinks and ice at the end of the competition, which makes the atmosphere on the beach of Lake Wuken.

But the Wukensee festival has a lot more to offer. On Saturday, July 12th, the festival will be opened again by the mayor from 9:00 a.m. At 10:00 a.m., the exciting dragon boat races begin, led by the seasoned teams that have already caused a lot of excitement the evening before. While the boats slide over the Wukensee, an attractive supporting program is waiting for the remaining festival visitors: fun and fun on the festival meadow, trial diving from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and live music in the evening.
The fact that dragon boat races are deeply rooted in Chinese culture shows the colorful dragon masks that are attached to the boats. Their origin ranges from training sessions for soldiers to ceremonial occasions, which makes the event a special experience. The admission prices for the two -day spectacle are cheap: visitors can participate for only 5 euros: inside both Friday and on Saturday. Children under 1.50 meters have free admission. Free shuttle transport in the Biesenthal urban area is offered so that everyone has the opportunity to visit and enjoy the festival. The cash register opens on Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and on Saturday all day. For everyone who wants to celebrate, there will be a grand event with a live band on Saturday evening from 8:00 p.m. The highlight of the day will be an impressive fireworks over the Wukensee at 11:00 p.m., which will be properly rounded off the evening.
The association "Wukeys" e. V. did a great job to get both the competitions and the festivities. On this occasion, the many helpers are also thanked: inside, the fire brigade and the DLRG, which together ensure the good success of the event.
