Fruit boom 2025: The rush on cider factories in Brandenburg has begun!
This year there is a veritable glut of fruit in Germany, which is causing demand for cideries to skyrocket. Many customers bring their harvest with them: operators like Mario Flach from the Mobile Mosterei Berlin are reporting a rush in appointment bookings. "It's crazy! Many bring up to 350 kilos of apples - you have to get an appointment quickly," says Flach enthusiastically. The Skotti cider factory in Buckow also has its hands full with the incoming apples.
Achim Fießinger from the Havelland Mostmanufaktur processes three to five tons of fruit every day, mainly from private individuals. For him, the season is anything but quiet. “Everyone wants to press their own juice; we have every opportunity to offer different blends,” he reports. In order to improve the taste of the juice, the customers' apples are mixed in Buckow - this means the variety of flavors is twice as great!
Apple season is better than ever
As of today, August 30, 2025, an estimate from the Federal Statistical Office shows that the apple harvest is above average. Thanks to the mild conditions during the flowering period, the first ripe apples can now be processed. "Would you like to enjoy fresh apple juice? Then you've come to the right place!" says Flach, referring to the official opening of the Brandenburg apple season, which was celebrated on Monday by Agriculture Minister Hanka Mittelstädt in Altlandsberg.
Customers must bring at least 100 kilos of fruit for processing, although smaller quantities can be combined. Pure apple juice and mixtures with currants or sour cherries are particularly popular. Flach’s company can process up to eight tons of apples per day, which results in around 5,600 liters of juice – every move makes a difference!
Mobile or stationary – you are spoiled for choice
Germany can look forward to a diverse selection of cider factories: More than 400 stations and mobile cider factories are in use nationwide, of which 304 are stationary and 129 are mobile. These usually process fruit by appointment. The list is continually updated so that those interested can easily find a suitable cider factory. Numerous companies allow processing in small quantities, so that hobby gardeners also get their money's worth. Many cideries also offer liquid delicacies such as strawberry smoothies or applesauce.

Special products such as ginger juice and exotic fruits such as kiwis are currently also very popular. But be careful: unripe apples can lead to thick, inedible juice. So always check the level of ripeness before pressing!
If you are still unsure how much fruit you have at home, you can contact NABU, which offers a comprehensive overview of the cider factories and their services.
