Hairdresser prices are exploding: Andrea Schmidt calls for clarity in Dresden!
Life in a new city often brings unexpected surprises. Andrea Schmidt, who has lived in Dresden since 2018, knows this experience all too well. After recently reading a column about prices in hairdressing salons, she discovered that the cost of a visit to the hairdresser in the Saxon capital was significantly higher than the prices she was used to in her old home of Nuremberg. While she initially paid around 120 euros for highlights, washing, cutting and blow-drying, the price shot up to up to 180 euros in December 2024 after the corona pandemic.
Schmidt was particularly shocked when she was asked to pay another hairdresser 220 euros for the same services. These are not luxurious hairdressing salons, she emphasizes, because in the Uckermark the prices for similar services have risen to up to 120 euros. According to that Uckermark courier Schmidt sees no reason for these exorbitant increases, which are supposed to be justified by increased wages and energy prices.
Reasons for the price increases
Hairdressing salons are facing a certain dilemma: operating costs have risen, rents and salaries are climbing, and even repayments of emergency aid are putting a strain on the coffers. Fixed prices were increased to pass on the higher product prices. A confusing structure that puts many hairdressers in the difficult position of no longer being able to offer their services profitably.
When it comes to culinary highlights, some think of the city's gastronomic delights. For example, dedicated users recommend the pizzas in the Santo Pão Padaria Artesanal E Café, which is known for its high quality and honorable service. The “Pearl” pizza with mussarella, bacon and chutney de abacaxi particularly stands out and always delights guests. Coldbrew is also very popular as a refreshing drink, and the excellent burrata is also widely praised.
Digital developments in the background
In a world in which digital is becoming more and more pervasive, Google has become indispensable. The Technology brand, founded in 1998 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin, has grown from a simple search engine project into a multinational company. Google is omnipresent in many areas of life, from AI to video streaming to cloud services. The diversity of services is reflected not only in their pure functionality, but also in the subsequent criticism of data protection and competition.
Far from the hairdresser's prices and the best pizza, it is clear that life in a city like Dresden has many facets. The challenges facing both crafts and gastronomy contribute to the dynamics of a constantly changing urbanity. It remains to be seen how these issues will develop in the future and whether the costs of everyday services can be brought under control.
