Red alert: Altenburger Land district tests warning system on September 11th!

A nationwide trial warning day will be held on September 11, 2025 at 11 a.m., in which the Altenburger Land district will also actively participate. This day, which is organized by the federal, state and local governments, aims to test the technical warning infrastructure and raise public awareness of warning systems. This is the initiator of the warning day Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief (BBK). Everything there works under the motto that safety and preparation go hand in hand.

Such an event almost seems like a test fire for the alarm measures. On the day of the warning, sirens are triggered and messages are sent via various warning systems such as television, radio and warning apps. The special thing about it: The warning is sent with a time delay to all warning multipliers connected to the modular warning system (MoWaS), which enormously increases the range. The all-clear will then be given at around 11:45 a.m. via the same channels that were previously used for the warning. However, it should be noted that no all-clear signal is currently being sent via Cell Broadcast, as the mobile network operators are still carrying out tests here.

Why the warning day?

What do you hope to achieve from this trial warning? The warning day not only serves to test the warning systems, but also to motivate the population to be aware of potential dangers. Especially in times when natural disasters and other emergencies are increasing, it is important that people know how to react. The ABG Net emphasizes that participation in the test is not mandatory, but definitely makes sense.

A look at the different warning means that are used confirms the variety of communication channels: In addition to the traditional media of radio and television, modern options such as warning apps and digital sirens are also available. In some cities, such as Schönebeck, digital channels are used to reach the population in a timely and targeted manner. These approaches show that the authorities have a good knack for networking traditional and digital communication channels.

What should citizens know?

The warning is distributed not only via the classic channels, but also via local warning devices such as loudspeaker trucks and digital city information boards. This ensures that all citizens can be reached, regardless of their personal connection to technology. Ultimately, the collective growth of the security infrastructure is a central concern in order to prepare the entire population for possible dangers.
