Erfurt youth guitar ensemble convinces in the German orchestra competition!

Erfurt, Deutschland - An exciting event in the music scene: The youth guitar ensemble of the Erfurt music school has cleared the fourth German orchestra competition. Under the direction of Holm Köbis, the approximately 25 volunteer musicians showed that they have always been able to secure a place among the top three youth guitar ensembles in Germany in the past two decades. From June 14th to 18th, 2025, the competition took place in Wiesbaden, Mainz and Ingelheim in the Rhine-Main area and attracted around 100 amateur orchestras from various music areas, including plucking, wind, accordion music and jazz. That was a real festival for the ears!

The premiere for the Zupforchester, which was carried out by Christian Laier, was particularly gratifying. After an intensive two-year preparation and rehearsal phase, this commitment was rewarded with a second prize and the predicate "excellently". The festival concert "20 years of youth guitar ensemble" in the Erfurt town hall festival hall marked the highlight of this performance and was recognized with great applause. The ensemble, which was founded in 1991 as the "Thuringian Zupepforchester Musikschule Erfurt", regularly contributes to the cultural diversity in Erfurt.
