Wartburgkreis Adult Education Center: 550 courses for every taste!
The Wartburg District Adult Education Center (vhs) presented its new annual program for 2025/2026 in a colorful mix of topics and courses. Rhoen Canal reports that the presentation was made with the participation of District Administrator Dr. Michael Brodführer took place. Around 550 courses could be selected for the coming months, and the Eisenach and Bad Salzungen locations are the focus.
What can participants expect? The course offerings are as diverse as life itself! From politics and society to the environment and health to languages that also include Chinese, everything is included. Vocational training, digital skills and special integration offers round out the program. The “junge vhs” was created for the younger generation, which is aimed specifically at children and young people. The planetarium in Bad Salzungen should also not be missing from this list, which offers its own events as a special highlight.
Diverse course offerings and new trends
The current program lists all courses by topic and location. For the fall semester, which begins on August 27, 2025, there are 270 courses to choose from in Eisenach, 123 in Bad Salzungen, 42 in the planetarium and 114 in the branch offices. Loud ones are particularly in demand southern Thuringia Language courses that are not only important for communication, but also build cultural bridges. Cooking courses that teach culinary diversity from different regions of the world are clearly a new trend.
There is also a particular focus on the topic of integration, and the vhs is taking part in the Intercultural Week for the first time this year. Dr. Brodführer emphasizes how important such offers are for social interaction. And Martin Scholz, head of vhs, also reports increasing demand for company courses for employee training - an exciting field is opening up here.
